This is a rare tree native to the rainforests and riverbanks of West Africa, which make this butter relatively hard to find. The tree bears large bright red flowers producing edible ellipsoid berries whose seed is used to make the butter that has been harvested in West Africa for generations. Kpangnan Butter has a rich profile of fatty acids which include natural occurring Stearic Acid and Oleic Acid. These acids help promote healthy skin cells through a process called mitochondrial fusion. Another unique characteristic of Kpangnan is its high content of Stigmasterol which gives the butter the ability to create a barrier of nutrients which prevents moisture loss which in turn insures that the skin is well protected. The butter has a dry silky texture and in its natural state, has a woody, earthy sometimes smoky scent and has a yellow appearance. Some confuse even market Kpangnan Butter as Yellow or Golden Shea' Butter. Although the process is similar, Shea Butter and Kpangnan Butter are 2 different and distinct butters. They are produced from 2 different tree species which grow in different climates in Africa. We offer scented and unscented varieties of Kpangnan Butter. Our scented versions has less than 1% fragrance that enhance the natural scent. We whip our Kpangnan to perfection to give it that special K Butter feel that we all love. This is a rare and remarkable butter. Give it a try. Your skin will love it.
